Palestinians Campaign For Obama

Sometime next fall, when you get a call from someone with a foreign accent urging you to vote for Barack Obama, you may consider asking where they are calling from. There’s a good chance it may be the Gaza strip and from a member of Hamas.

Palestinians in Gaza have taken it upon themselves to actively campaign for Obama from Gaza. In a world that gets smaller every day through the internet and other forms of communication, this should come as no surprise.

However, when pondering whether or not to vote for Barack Obama in the fall, one should ponder this….why would members of Hamas in the Gaza strip attempt to influence our Presidential election? Why are they so preferential to Obama? What is it about him that makes him so attractive to people who belong to terrorist groups and have pledged themselves to the destruction of Israel? Could it be that they think he’s just pretending to be a supporter of Israel and really isn’t?

That my friends, is exactly what they think. And I think they’re right.

Supreme Court Legalizes Gay Marraige in California

Today the California Supreme Court overruled a legislative ban on gay marriage by a 4-3 decision. Chief Justice Ron George wrote for the majority and stated that domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute for marriage. With this ruling, California becomes only the second state after Massachusetts to legalize gay marriage.

Gay marriage

Naturally, gay marriage supporters hailed this ruling as a victory for their cause. However, their battle is far from over.

Currently, a coalition of religious and conservative social groups is putting together a measure that may make it onto the November ballot. The measure needs 694,354 signatures to make it on the ballot and these groups claim they have already accumulated 1.1 million signatures. This measure would allow the voters of California to decide whether or not to put a ban on gay marriage in the California constitution. If this measure passes in November, this will trump the California Supreme Court’s decision.

We can be certain that gay marriage advocacy groups will fight any measure allowing the California voters to decide this. Liberal activist groups are rarely successful implementing their agenda with voters or elected officials, so resorting to the judiciary to get their way is what we’ve come to expect.

The ruling set off a big celebration at San Francisco City Hall. This will, no doubt, be an issue in this year’s election process and is a winning issue for conservatives if they choose to use it.

Iran Uses Apology Letters as Propaganda

In an unprecedented event on September 24, 2007, Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad spoke in a public forum at Columbia University. His appearance was both hailed and condemned as it was the first time an openly communist leader was allowed to speak freely on U.S. soil. Interestingly, Lee Bollinger, the Chancellor of Columbia University, not only invited Ahmadinejad to the forum, but introduced him by berating him and his communist policies.

The response by many was rightful condemnation over Iran’s policies towards women, gays, and Israel. Ahmadinejad kept on message during the forum by denying the holocaust and affirming that he felt that the U.S. presence in the Middle East was unwarranted. However, there was a letter-writing contingent in the audience that felt that Ahmadinejad was mistreated and wrongfully criticized by Bollinger. This contingent did what they do best–write apology letters to Iran!

So, now the Iranian Presidential Office has published a book entitled “Dialogue In Iranian Style”, which contains the letters of American Citizens apologizing for the “offensive” behavior of the Chancellor. If this contingent of communist letter-writing sympathizers was consistent in their ideology, shouldn’t letters have be written to all the holocaust survivors in the U.S. for allowing Ahmadinejad to deny the holocaust at a nationally televised forum?

Which is more offensive? Truthfully describing the devastatingly oppressive effects of communism and drawing attention to a culture of human rights violations or denying the reality of the holocaust? Apparently in this day and age, progressives find the truth more offensive than deliberate lies.

Global Warming? Earth Day Celebration Blasted By Blizzard

Happy Earth Day! How about that out of control, man-made Global Warming? More like the lack of it in Edmonton, Canada.

Eco-friendly groups in Edmonton were forced to abandon their original locations for their Earth Day celebration due to the blizzard. I guess they had to change their talking points from Global Warming to Global “Climate Change” to not sound like complete lunatics.

Report from the Edmonton Sun.

So much for global warming. Earth Day festivities went ahead despite the blast of frigid weather yesterday.

Vendors and presenters from various eco-friendly groups, including Bullfrog Power, CO2 Reduction Edmonton and the local solar energy society, crammed into a lone tent in Hawrelak Park after a blizzard forced them to abandon their original locations.

Organizers crammed over 40 groups in a space that would normally be occupied by half that number. Presenters’ booths were initially planned to have been spread out between at least five tents, with far larger displays.

“We’re normally here with a lineup of cyclists for our free bike repair service. No bikers came today. Big surprise,” said Chris Field of Mountain Equipment Co-Op.

A handful of visitors still took the time to inquire about several solar-powered products on display at the M.E.C. booth and browsed several others before running off toward the lone heater in the tent to warm up.

A lemonade vendor towards the front might as well not have been there.

“Obviously we’ll have fewer people than we would have liked, but to cancel an Earth Day event because of weather would kind of be the antithesis of what this is all about,” said organizer Janice Boudreau.

“This isn’t about celebrating just the parts of the Earth that we like, it’s about celebrating all of it.”

Eco-Air representative Eric Gormley couldn’t convince local kids lobbying city council for an anti-idling bylaw to brave the cold yesterday, but happily stepped up on their behalf, offering stickers and information about greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles.

“We’re here to raise awareness of the problem, even though on a day like today you don’t necessarily think of global warming,” he said.

“We especially want to encourage young people in school to join us. It’s the youth that have the power to make real change.”

Obama Calls For Talks With Iran

On Tuesday, Presidential Candidate Barack Obama called for the US to talk to Iran to help sort out the Iraq situation. Which, if you think about it, is pretty funny considering that Iranians are probably largely behind the majority of attacks on US troops in Iraq. What would talking to a clown like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accomplish? Likely nothing other than embarrassing the United States for negotiating with a communist nation and bowing to their desires. Iran has a vested interest in what happens in Iraq. Iran would like nothing more than to turn Iraq into a nation much like Iran. Iran does not want any kind of democracy in the Middle East and will be a major opposing force to any kind of democratic government for a very long time.

Sure, Iran could stop a lot of the violence in the region because they’re the cause of most of it. In case Obama hasn’t noticed, Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism. Iran would gladly “help” us quell the violence and in exchange get to exert more influence on Iraq and dictate where oil profits go. Why don’t we just open up negotiations and unilateral talks with Al Qaeda?

Maybe we should “talk” to Iran about the 6000 new centrifuges that they are assembling for their nuclear program. I’m so sure Iran’s only interest in uranium is for nuclear power….does anyone actually believe that?

FITNA Release Leads to Death Threats on LiveLeak Staff

The recent web release of the film FITNA by Dutch Politician Geert Wilders was hosted on British run website LiveLeak.com and has since been removed (although the link still works) due to death threats against its staff. This is the statement from LiveLeak’s website.

Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, Liveleak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers.

This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else. We would like to thank the thousands of people, from all backgrounds and religions, who gave us their support. They realised LiveLeak.com is a vehicle for many opinions and not just for the support of one.

Perhaps there is still hope that this situation may produce a discussion that could benefit and educate all of us as to how we can accept one anothers culture.
We stood for what we believe in, the ability to be heard, but in the end the price was too high.

I have watched the 15 minute film and it is a compilation of verses out of the Quran calling for violence, footage from terrorist activities, and Muslim leaders preaching violence against Jews and Christians. Geert Wilders has already been targeted with assassination before, but is much more likely to face it after releasing this film. He also faces some copyright charges, but that’s irrelevant if he’s killed for this.

The film is very damning against radical Islam and seeks to have the Quran banned in Holland for the same reason that Mein Kamph was banned.  It’s isn’t very well made, but it is powerful.  Geert Wilders has a right to say what he thinks without being threatened with death.

The film was downloaded from LiveLeak.com and made it onto YouTube. If you want to watch the film, the two parts are below. It is about 15 minutes long total. I wouldn’t recommend watching it with kids.

Hillary Caught Lying about Bosnia Trip

Hillary Clinton often gives the example of her Bosnia trip twelve years ago as evidence of her experience. While First Lady she reports flying into Bosnia and arriving under sniper fire in the airplane and then being rushed into vehicles to carry her away from the airstrip. The only problem is that it never happened. Hillary seems to have dreamed up this grandiose illusion that she actually faced mortal danger as the First Lady and somehow that gives her the experience to be President. This exaggeration/lie is only one of many of Hillary Clinton’s whoppers that she expects us to believe.

My personal favorite is her claim that she plays pickup basketball. Right, I’ve seen plenty of 60 year old multi-millionaire women playing pickup basketball.

NewsMax has some other hilarious claims from Hillary:

  • She was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. who climbed Mount Everest.
  • She was a Yankees fan when she lived in Chicago.
  • She told upstate New Yorkers she had been a “duck hunter.”
  • She claimed on Sept. 11 daughter Chelsea was jogging around the World Trade Center.
  • We will see how savvy the Obama campaign is if he chooses to tackle some of these blatant fabrications. Of course, Obama’s got some credibility problems of his own so he may just lay low on this one and allow the voters to figure it out on their own.
