Pensacola Tea Party – April 15, 2009

I attended one of the two Pensacola, FL tax day “tea parties” on April 15th.  Considering that there were only 6 people confirmed to attend this on Facebook, I was pleasantly surprised when I drove up to 500+ people attending this.  Granted, this crowd was nothing compared to the 15,000+ in Atlanta, but I thought this crowd was pretty good for Pensacola.  The rally was in front of University Mall on N. Davis Highway and stretched a good 1/3 mile from one end of the party to the other.

Patriotic music was playing and there was an overall good spirit during this rally.  The entire time I was there, cars were driving by honking their horns in support.   I saw plenty of FairTax signs and plenty of people handing out literature regarding various causes.

The unfortunate thing about the nationwide mainstream media and their coverage of this event which happened in over 700 cities across this country was their focus on who attended these rallies rather than why they occurred.   The reporting of this was more about supposed “extremist right wing groups” coordinating these rather than the fact that people are genuinely opposed to the Democratic congress and Obama’s outrageous spending in the past 10 weeks or so.  People at these rallies aren’t against all forms of taxation, but just the type that punishes success and thus leads to less overall growth.

Make no mistake about it, liberals are genuinely afraid of what is going on here.  Otherwise, they wouldn’t have spent so much time denouncing these on TV and referring to them as an obscure homosexual practice (tea-bagging).  In fact, no one actually participating in these rallies called them tea-bagging parties.  I’m amazed at how many anchors on CNN and MSNBC show surprising familiarity with the term, which is one that I’ve never heard before a few days ago.

The total estimated attendance of all tax day tea parties is now at 618,000 according to PJTV.  Not bad considering getting conservatives to rally for a cause is next to impossible.

Below are some pictures that I took with my iPhone of the rally to give various perspectives.  I look forward to the next time one of these occurs.  I feel confident these will occur on a regular basis until 2012 or whenever Obama is out of office.

MoveOn.org Wants $10 Per Gallon Gasoline

I couldn’t quite believe it when I had a friend of mine tell me that he really believed that $10 per gallon gasoline would be a good thing.  He actually wanted the U.S. to face a recession similar to the one that Japan faced in the 1990’s.  Apparently my friend’s sentiments weren’t all that unusual.

In this video, Barack Obama supporters at a MoveOn.org rally readily admit that they want gasoline to cost $10, $20, even $30 per gallon.  When asked how this would affect a single mom with a minivan, their response was, “she shouldn’t be driving a minivan”.

These are the types of people that will be in an Obama administration.  For those of you on the fence, keep this in mind!  Don’t think that the “progressive” agenda won’t amount to outrageous energy costs.

They just want you to sit there and sweat in your hot, dark house all in the name of global warming.

Offshore Drilling Ban to Expire October 1st

That’s right folks….if the Democrat led Congress doesn’t renew the ban. Think about it…we have $4 per gallon gasoline, billions of dollars per year going to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, a Democrat presidential candidate telling you to save gas by filling up your tires, and a Democrat congress that will actually renew a ban on drilling for our own resources. All I have to say is I better not hear a word from a liberal anywhere about us being dependent on foreign oil if they actually go through with this.

The saving light for this looming issue may be the Republicans. Republicans are actually threatening to shut down Capitol Hill to ensure that this ban does expire on October 1st. It may get hairy though…in order to do this Republicans would have to vote against a resolution to fund the federal government for the 2009 fiscal year. A similar tactic was done in 1995 when a Newt Gingrich led congress tried the same thing and it blew up in the Republican’s face. The public blamed Republicans for late Social Security checks and lost Medicare checks.

However, this time public opinion is in the Republican’s corner. The overwhelming majority of Americans support drilling for our own resources, so what is necessary is informing them of the Democrat led effort to renew the ban on offshore drilling. The Republicans have five weeks until Congress is back in session. Can they do it? It’s a tall task when the media is doing everything they can to elect Barack Obama along with every other Democrat in the country.

Spread the word and call your congressman to oppose this ban on drilling!

Obama: The Messiah?

Now, this piece written by Gerard Baker is obviously satire, but I found it eerily creepy that any person, let alone Barack Obama, could be spoken of in such terms. What is really frightening is that there may actually be people out there that actually believe Obama is the person that will change all the social injustices in the world. However, if you follow the way the media has been reporting on his trip to Europe, you might have to conclude that some believe he is the Messiah–the Obamessiah that is.

Obama’s New Presidential Seal Likely Illegal

Just in case you didn’t think the Obama campaign couldn’t get more arrogant, the Obama campaign unveiled a new Presidential Seal in his run for the Presidency. I’m not sure if this is just supposed to be a cheap campaign gimmick or we’re supposed to actually take this seriously. Is Obama really supposed to look more “presidential” sitting behind this thing?

The hilarious thing is that this silly seal might just land him or one of his staffers in jail for 6 months because it’s an obvious rip off of the Seal of the President among others.

18 USC Sec. 713 …
(a) Whoever knowingly displays any printed or other likeness of the great seal of the United States, or of the seals of the President or the Vice President of the United States, or the seal of the United States Senate, or the seal of the United States House of Representatives, or the seal of the United States Congress, or any facsimile thereof, in, or in connection with, any advertisement, poster, circular, book, pamphlet, or other publication, public meeting, play, motion picture, telecast, or other production, or on any building, monument, or stationery, for the purpose of conveying, or in a manner reasonably calculated to convey, a false impression of sponsorship or approval by the Government of the United States or by any department, agency, or instrumentality thereof, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

(b) Whoever, except as authorized under regulations promulgated by the President and published in the Federal Register, knowingly manufactures, reproduces, sells, or purchases for resale, either separately or appended to any article manufactured or sold, any likeness of the seals of the President or Vice President, or any substantial part thereof, except for manufacture or sale of the article for the official use of the Government of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

The real question is who is going to call his campaign on this? I would imagine that President Bush might have some say in this….it is a rip-off of his seal after all.

Obama Vows to Disarm America

In this remarkable 2007 video, Barack Obama pledges to an anti-war group that he will eliminate and severely reduce America’s nuclear arsenal.  He also promises not to weaponize space and that he wants a world without nuclear weapons.

Now that’s a nice thought.  Wouldn’t we all like that?  There’s just one problem…there are a number of rogue nations (North Korea, Iran, etc) that have the ability to make a nuclear weapon.  So, do we honestly believe that if we eliminate all of our nukes, that they’re going to do the same thing?  Give me a break.

If Obama and his “progressive” followers don’t want America to be the worlds lone military superpower, then who do they want leading the world?  China?  North Korea?  Oh yeah, the world would be much safer under them.  If we’re not the world’s military superpower, somebody else will be.  There are plenty of nations ready and willing to take our place.

If you think back to September 11th, 2001, could you have honestly believed that America would have lasted nearly 7 years without another major attack on our soil?  Most of us believed (including me) that it would be two and maybe three years at the most before we were hit again.  Because of President Bush’s leadership we have lasted this long and America has nearly completely dismantled the Al Qaeda network.

We’re winning the war against terror.  We’re winning the war in Iraq.  We removed the Taliban.  We removed Sadaam Hussein.  Al Qaeda is utterly ineffective and losing to us on every front.  Why would we stop now?  Because we have hope and we want change?  Barack Obama will bring change all right–from winning against terorrist to losing against terrorists; from being the world’s lone superpower to not being a superpower; from being strong to being weak.  Oh yeah, that’s change I can believe in.
