Plumber Joe and Barack Obama: The Full Video

h/t New York Post

This is an excellent video showing the full conversation between “Joe the Plumber” and Barack Obama.  Obama is clearly off script here, because he lets it slip that his tax plan is really to “spread the wealth around” (translation: income redistribution).

Close to 40% of Americans pay no income tax!  So how can someone who pays nothing, get a tax cut?  Answer: They can’t!  It’s really pretty simple.  If you don’t pay taxes, you can’t get a tax cut!

The Wall Street Journal published a fine article this week explaining how Barack Obama plans to give a “tax cut” to 95% of Americans.  It has to do with redefining what a “tax cut” is.  A Barack Obama “tax cut” to someone who doesn’t pay any taxes turns out to be a check from the government.  Call it what you want….welfare, income redistribution, etcetera….but it’s no tax cut.

When you take money from one group and give it to another, it’s called income redistribution and it isn’t American.  Where is the federal government given power to redistribute income?  How do they get to determine how much each person is entitled to?  Why does Barack Obama get to decide what is enough? “$250,000 a year is enough for you, so I’m going to take it from you and give it to someone else.”  I guess the American dream only goes up to $250,000 a year now.

Barack Obama plans to redistribute income and wealth in this country via the tax code and has no business becoming our next president.

Obama Asks Us To Sacrifice Our Food

In front of a crowd of 75,000 people in Portland, Oregon, Barack Obama made the following statment:

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK”

This type of speech sounds strangely familiar to what we heard out of John Kerry four years ago with his “global test” comment. But is Obama for real with these comments? Is he really prepared to limit driving and how much we eat?

Is this what his campaign is about? Limiting our freedoms? Because if it is, it sounds and awful lot like socialism to me. Would an Obama Administration really bring an end to “eating as much as we want?” Do we need other countries’ approval to eat as much as we want or drive as much as we want? Under Obama, would we really need the government’s approval to set our thermostats to 72 degrees?

If Obama isn’t serious about this, then why is he bringing it up on the campaign trail? And how does he intend on regulating our overeating? Air strikes on Chinese buffets across America?

Michelle Obama has made similar statments:

“The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more.”

Translation: You have to give up your good education and good healthcare so everyone can have lousy education and healthcare, because that’s the new American way.

The Obama’s preach the Robin Hood philosophy. Take more from the rich and give more to the poor. Maybe someone close to Michelle should share with her that we already spend 60% of our federal budget on entitlements. If you get that number any higher we are bordering on an entire nanny state and the complete wussification of America. But, that of course, is the new goal of the Democratic party.

Democrat Delegate Discussion Underway

It appears that a re-vote in Michigan and Florida for the Democratic Presidential primary is probably unlikely. The Florida Democratic party recently proposed that a re-vote be done by mail-in; all 4.1 million Democratic registered voters in the state would be mailed a ballot. The cost of this endeavor? $10 to $12 million. There doesn’t appear to be any taxpayer money for this, so the DNC would likely have to fund the repeat election itself, which probably isn’t going to happen. There are talks underway to do the same kind of vote in Michigan, but Michigan will probably run into the same kind of financial roadblocks that the Florida DNC has.

Che Obama Hillary

According to The Page by Mark Halperin, these are the details of a possible compromise between the Clinton and Obama campaigns over these Michigan and Florida delegates.

  • Michigan’s 156 delegates would be split 50-50 between Clinton and Obama.
  • Florida’s existing delegates would be seated at the Denver convention—but with half a vote each. That would give Clinton a net gain of about 19 elected delegates.
  • The two states’ superdelegates would then be able to vote in Denver, likely netting Clinton a few more delegates.

The Clinton camp would probably accept this deal, but maybe not. She might really try to get all of Michigan’s delegates seated for her (even though Obama wasn’t on the ballot). Who knows whether the Obama camp would accept this deal or not. He’d likely still hold a 70-80 delegate lead even if this compromise was reached, but it’s still going to go all the way to the convention. This whole thing is going to be decided by the Superdelegates, not the voters.

In other interesting news, this is a recent Rasmussen poll of likely Democratic voters nationwide.

Black: Obama 81%, Clinton 7%

White: Clinton 50%, Obama 39%

Women: Clinton 51%, Obama 40%

Men: Obama 60%, Clinton 28%

The Clinton camp has just really begun to polarize this primary based off of race and it is beginning to show in the polls. What is remarkable is the clear evidence of identity politics in America. 81% of black voters are voting Obama and only 7% for Hillary? That is just amazing considering there is basically no difference between Obama and Hillary on issues. It just goes to show you that politics in America has become a popularity contest and it’s about who looks nice, talks nice, and promises to “help us out” the most. It’s really pathetic. What we really need is a candidate that gets government out of the way of everything.

Before you rush out and vote for either Obama or Hillary, consider their stances on a few things.

  • Both propose plans for socialized medicine with all of the accoutrements, including rationed health care and long waits for basic services
  • Both are promoting a plan that would legitimize coercion and intimidation as legitimate tools for unionizing the workplace
  • Both are moving forward with plans to increase the regulatory burden on small businesses, thus slowing their growth and job production
  • Both have pledged to raise taxes on the very people in this country that provide over 70% of the jobs
  • Both propose increasing taxes on American companies, yet these companies continue to flee our oppressive tax system for better tax climates overseas. These companies are taking their jobs with them.
  • Both have proposed fleeing Iraq, even though this is the very place that Al Qaeda is currently operating. Shouldn’t we fight Al Qaeda where they are instead of waiting until they come here to fight them? The best defense is a good offense.

Please think a little before you go out and vote for a candidate in November just because they have a (D) or an (R) after their name. The future of this country depends on it. The repercussions of electing a candidate because of identity politics may very well put America on the fast track to mirroring the USSR.

California: Where Government Steals Your Rights As A Parent

school bus

Just this week the Second District Court of Appeals in California issued a ruling in a child welfare dispute that will make homeschooling a criminal act for the majority of California homeschooling parents. Justice H. Walter Croskey presided over the 3-0 ruling and stated that “California courts have held that … parents do not have a constitutional right to homeschool their children.” The ruling determined that only those parents who are credentialed teachers may teach their children at home. Parents who do not hold teaching credentials and who homeschool their children can be criminally prosecuted for failing to comply with the law.

The only functions of government should be to provide justice and protection of our way of life. These are the foundations our country was founded on. It was not founded on welfare programs or education or jobs. The government’s job is not to educate your kids, provide you with work or a monthly check if you’re out of work, or give you free healthcare. Yet these are the things that our government does more and more and more of.

This ruling in California is yet another example of liberalism run amuck. Liberalism is about controlling citizens. The concept of the individual doesn’t exist in the realm of liberalism–every person must be controlled by the government for the greater good of society. Liberals believe that the government is better at raising kids than parents are. Government knows best—what to feed your kids, how to dress your kids, what to teach your kids, and how to discipline your kids. Slowly our rights as individuals and as families are decaying in this country, and there is no better place to watch it happen than in California. It seems California is leading the charge to have everyone turn all their rights over to the government.

Multiple studies have shown that homeschoolers score an average of 15 to 30 percentile points higher on achievement tests than do government schooled kids. Homeschool parents also on average are more educated than the general public—88% continued their education beyond high school versus 50% for the general population. Nearly every year the winner of the National Spelling Bee is a homeschooler. By every measurable standard, homeschoolers are better educated than government educated kids.

No matter what the situation, even if you hold an M.D, a J.D., or a Ph.D, if you don’t hold a teaching certificate in California you can go to jail for homeschooling your kids. It doesn’t matter if you are the greatest teacher in the country, if you haven’t gone to school and taken the exams to get that little sheet of paper called a teaching certificate, you go to jail. It doesn’t matter if you live in Compton and your daughter fears she will be sexually assaulted every time she goes to school, the government doesn’t care because they think they will do a better job teaching your kid than you will.

I’m not quite sure if this is just a huge power grab from the California government to get more money into an already failing school system or if they’re just trying to implement socialism as soon as possible into this country. Either way, it’s a chilling ruling and it will hopefully be reversed for the sake of the kids whose education will most definitely suffer.
